Hi, we had the best holiday ever with our 4 labradors in Cropton, with Forest Holidays, the holiday wasn't cheep but by gumm it was worth every penny. The lodge we stayed in had wood floors and all in one level so was great for my old girl who is 13, they also have underground heating which the girls loved after a day out exploring the surrounding woodland. On site the girls had to be on leads but it's such a small park and such a short distance to the areas where you can let the dogs run free and oh boy did they run, the Forrest in which the site is set is full of fallen trees, leaves, logs, foxes, deer, rabbits we even saw a badger out side our lodge. The walks are all on roads to but are blocked off for cars so there is nothing to worry about and you can just enjoy seeing the dogs doing what they love most. You can do a different walk every day of the week and not cross the same path twice. We went out each morning at 7 as the sun rose and took a picnic and came home at 4 for tea most days. On return to the lodge there is a hose pipe that's set at 34 degrees to clean the dogs down and even dog towels are provided. The windows are floor to ceiling so watching the wildlife as they pass your lodge at night is amazing and there is a chalk board at the shop where you write what wildlife you have seen. The shop and pub are dog friendly and there is a quiz mid week that we took the girls too as well and they were very welcome. The site itself is beautiful and each lodge is just far away from each other just enough to get your personal space as you relax in the hot tub after a long day's walking and exploring. The shop deliver papers and fresh bread in the morning or pizzas and sweet in the evenings. If you have a game player in the family you can pick a game package and leave them to play away while you take in the scenery. This really is a dream holiday for any dog owner and I can't recommend it highly enough. We stayed in the top gold Lodge but the only difference between gold and silver was a patterned lamp and settee so next time we would proberly stay in silver.if you do go I would also recommend the Cropton site as we walked to one of the other sites and Cropton is more small and newer but the lodges looked exactly the same. What ever you decide just do it and sit back and relax or walk your little legs off. Enjoy. |
